A smooth guide into needle control valves

Most piping engineers, especially while dealing with potable water supply, use needle control valves. Why? Needle valves are used for controlling the flow of fluid in the most precise manner. These valves are compact and can be very easily installed. Nowadays automated needle control valves are connected to an air actuator or hydraulic motor which closes or opens the needle valve automatically. If you want to explore more about needle control valves, read this blog.

What are needle control valves and why are they used?

You must know from where the name of needle control valves has come - due to the tapered port and plug arrangement. Needle control valves are small and help in controlling the flow of fluid. These valves aid in precisely controlling the water flow. You can use needle valves even if the pressure heads or the flow rates are reduced & controlled. These valves have the capability of controlling flow and pressure. Needle valves are also known as linear motion valves and have metal-to-metal seats. Due to the small size, needle valves can be efficiently used for shut-off conditions (positive). Such control valves are capable of controlling the volume.

Where needle control valves are used?

Needle control valves are used in multiple applications where there is a need for pressure/flow regulation.

> Water treatment and distribution

> Potable water supply

> Reservoirs and dams

> Power plants

> Air regulation

> Sampling lines

> Abrasive services

> Flow metering applications

What is the working principle of needle control valves?

The axle ends in the tampered needle that moves into the seat valve so that it can prevent or obstruct the fluid flow through the valves. The motion of in & out of needle control valves to & from the seat of the valve is controlled with the help of a spindle that is operated through handwheels. The respective fluid turns 90 degrees which moves through the needle valve and passes via an orifice. You can change the size of the orifice by simply situating the cone as per seat. The plunger is on the screw's end so when you turn the screw, the plunger gets retracted, and fluid flow between the seat and plunger is possible.

What are the benefits of installing needle control valves?

Have a glance at some of the benefits to install needle control valves:

> At a low rate, the flow control is very precise.

> These control valves are smaller in size which makes the installation process hassle-free.

> For throttling purposes, you can use these valves.

> Needle control valves can easily shut off.

Conclusion

All in all, needle control valves are ideal for controlling fluid flow and pressure accurately. The arrangement of needle control valves is in such a way which allows a gradual decrease or increase in the opening by permitting precise flow regulation. While selecting the right needle control valve, read the specifications well and then contact a top supplier of needle control valves in the Middle East and GCC region.

How Boiler Water Treatment Chemicals Play A Major Role to Boost Feed Water Purity?

Boilers play a pivotal role in powering various operations, from generating electricity to producing steam for heating and manufacturing when it comes to industrial processes. However, the efficiency and longevity of boilers are heavily reliant on the quality of their feed water.  Contaminants present in feed water can lead to corrosion, scale buildup, and reduced efficiency. Fortunately, the use of boiler water treatment chemicals offers a robust solution to combat these issues and optimise boiler performance. In this blog, we shed light to the importance of using these water treatment solutions . Understanding the Importance of Feed Water Purity Feed water serves as the lifeblood of boilers, providing the necessary substance for steam generation. Yet, this seemingly innocuous fluid can harbour a myriad of impurities, including dissolved minerals, suspended solids, organic matter, and gases.  Left untreated, these contaminants can wreak havoc on boiler systems, causing...
