What are gate valves? What is their usage in multiple industries?

Valves are devices that control or direct and regulate the flow of fluids such as liquids, gases, slurries, fluidized solids etc by partially obstructing or closing several passageways. One of the vital and most common valves that are used in varied industries is - Gate valve. There are different types of gate valves used for different applications. One of them is
Sewage gate valves. These valves are majorly used for wastewater.

What are gate valves?

Gate valves are known as sluice valves. They open by lifting the rectangular or round gate/ wedge. from the fluid's path. The main feature of gate valves is the sealing surface between the seats and the gates which are planar. This makes gate valves ideal to be used when minimum restriction and straight-line fluid flow are required.

Gate valves are specially designed for serving as isolation valves. Gate valves help in controlling the fluid flow through pipes. These valves are installed to stop or start the water flow. They are used for on or off applications and are most common because of their ease of operation & simple design.

What are the different types of gate valves?

Gate valves are divided into two types: Wedge-shaped and parallel. Wedge-shaped gate valves utilize two inclined seats with a mismatched inclined gate. Parallel gate valves utilize the flat gate present in between the parallel seats.

What is the industrial usage of gate valves?

In numerous fluids, gate valves are used. The sewage gate valves can be found in multiple industries like sewage disposal, underground application etc. Mostly, they are used for irrigation as well as distribution service lines. Gate valves are suitable for both high temperature and pressure. These valves can also be used for non-corrosive oil or gas and low-pressure steam.

There are some other applications where gate valves can be used. They are:

a) Sewage transport system - Sewage Gate valves can be used in sewage transport systems for efficiently regulating the flow of sewage and toxic fluid. Without these valves, the whole transportation procedure would not work properly. These gate valves are the backbone of the complete system. Gate valves are used for opening or closing, controlling and regulating the sewage flow of the sewage. It avoids the backflow and prevents the emission of odour.

b) Marine industry - Gate valves are vital for marine engineers. The common valves used aboard the shipping vessel are - gate valves. When the valves turn, the device lowers or raises for controlling the fluid flow.

c) Mining industry - The industrial applications are more demanding. The valves are suitable for every kind of external condition to operate in a reliable way. Knife gate valves are used for separating as well as on and off purposes in various machines that consist of suspended solids.

The features of gate valves make them an ideal solution for various applications in varied industries. Gate valves are sluice valves that open by lifting the gate or barrier out of the fluid path. Sewage gate valves need less space. You will require top quality gate valves offering outstanding isolation performance with no leakage.

How Boiler Water Treatment Chemicals Play A Major Role to Boost Feed Water Purity?

Boilers play a pivotal role in powering various operations, from generating electricity to producing steam for heating and manufacturing when it comes to industrial processes. However, the efficiency and longevity of boilers are heavily reliant on the quality of their feed water.  Contaminants present in feed water can lead to corrosion, scale buildup, and reduced efficiency. Fortunately, the use of boiler water treatment chemicals offers a robust solution to combat these issues and optimise boiler performance. In this blog, we shed light to the importance of using these water treatment solutions . Understanding the Importance of Feed Water Purity Feed water serves as the lifeblood of boilers, providing the necessary substance for steam generation. Yet, this seemingly innocuous fluid can harbour a myriad of impurities, including dissolved minerals, suspended solids, organic matter, and gases.  Left untreated, these contaminants can wreak havoc on boiler systems, causing...
